Transfer Talk:Manchester United 'agree £80m' deal to sign Lazio's Sergej Milinkovic-Savic

Jose Mourinho has begun identifying targets for next season as he begins the task of chasing down huge rivals Manchester City. And The Sun are reporting that the first piece of recruitment is all-but-done, with United agreeing to shell out a huge £80m for the Serbia international midfielder.

The paper write that there was a breakthrough in talks last week after United's hierarchy had initially balked at the asking price. They have now 'accepted they must pay' big money to land their man, as they look to fill gaps that could become apparent this summer. Michael Carrick is retiring to take up a coaching role at the club, while Marouane Fellaini is yet to sign a new contract and could well leave Old Trafford. Milinkovic-Savic would likely play alongside his countryman Nemanja Matic in midfield, and has attracted interest after three impressive seasons in Serie A. He joined Lazio from Genk in 2015, and is represented by Mateja Kezman, a former player Mourinho knows well from his time at Chelsea. This season, the midfielder has played 45 times in all competitions for his club side, scoring 13 goals in the process.
